What is Saizeriya ?

It is an Italian food chain of restaurants in Japan and some surrounding countries equivalent to the popularity of McDonald’s. As strange as it might seem, Italians did not found this franchise. It was designed family-style and founded by the Japanese community in 1973. People have grown to love it. Saizeriya is one of the cheapest places to get a belly full of tasty pizza, chicken, pasta and much more.
Most citizens enjoy the family-oriented atmosphere that it exudes. On weekends, most Saizeriya franchises are filled with joyous laughter, families having quality time together, couples spending time with each other and a few servers running back and forth fulfilling orders. On weekdays, many adolescents and teenagers mingle with their peers after school and on diverse occasions study for their upcoming exams.
Saizeriya restaurants have been opened in most, if not, all cities in the land of the rising sun. The flavorful menu and the amazing prices could not beat the hordes of people it has gained since its doors opened over four decades ago. If anyone wanted to order every single dish on the menu, they could easily pay less than 30,000 yen (equivalent to nearly $300 USD). That’s how accommodating the prices are and how easily anyone on a low budget could purchase meals.

Shanghai welcomed their first Saizeriya in December 2003 and ever since that time other cities such as Guangzhou and Beijing have also opened several stores throughout. Hong Kong opened a store in late 2010.
Although the prices seem to be at just about anyone’s reach, Saizeriya restaurants overseas seem to be making more of a profit than in Japan. An article on the Asian Review explained how franchises have exceeded over 200 in China alone.
