JENNIFER | AUGUST 12, 2014 2:49PM JST
He was a funny. He was real. He was depressed and now he’s gone. Robin Williams who turned 63 a month ago, was found lifeless and has left everyone in complete shock. Unfortunately, that came to an end on August 11, 2014. Looking back to his life, he made his audience stop talking and dissolve in laughter with his knee-slapping jokes. When Williams began a funny streak of comments, he could not stop. During serious conversations, he temporarily remained humorless. Shortly afterwards, he would begin a comedy show at any given time and place in order to change the pace of gloomy topics at hand.
Williams was a shy kid who had two half brothers. He lost one of them, Todd, three days shy to exactly four years prior to his own death. As a child, even though he kept to himself, he enjoyed mimicking others, especially his grandmother. Later, that bashfulness was swept away when he became a part of his high school drama department. He went on to Julliard School and after that he was accepted into a high-level program with John Houseman.
From stand-up to being the lead of successful Hollywood films, Williams put 100% dedication into his craft. It was his love and a scapegoat from the personal troubles that he kept stumbling upon. Early on in his career, Williams got married to Valerie Velardi and had a son with her. However, his life closed in on him causing him to become addicted to cocaine and partying. Some of his ups and downs are shown on this timeline.

In 1982, subsequent to his friend, John Belushi’s death to a cocaine overdose, Williams was scared straight out of continuing his drug use. Yet, as time went on, his personal life went through a roller coaster of events.
His professional life continued to grow and look promising, but Valerie Velardi and him called it quits in 1989. He had a fling with a waitress and it turned out to end in a lawsuit. He later married Marsha Garces Williams, who was a nanny, a year after his divorce to Velardi. He had his first daughter with Garces that same year. A couple of years later, he had another boy. He ended up going to rehabilitation on August 9, 2006 for alcohol abuse. It does not stop there. Following his divorce with Marsha Garces Williams, his heart began failing. Williams had to replace his aortic valve, which was successfully done in 2009. Fortunately for Williams, he was able to find love again and marry in 2011. His fairy tale lasted only a few years prior to his great disheartening departure. His legacy will always remain in Hollywood and in the hearts of many. Williams had the privilege of enjoying a lifetime as an actor by playing roles in over a hundred films. |
