CHIBA, JAPAN. The 80s were filled with fun, venturesome and action-packed cartoons that fashioned aspects of my life in some form or another. I spent hours in front of the TV, watching one cartoon after another on numerous occasions.
Some of the cartoons that I am about to mention here aired during my toddler or pre-teen years. They made my day and if I were to watch them again, I would feel all tingly inside. Yes, they were parallel to having a daily dose of dessert and I worship dessert.

Jem and the Holograms were such cool ladies and they always had nice styles of clothing. I mean, what little girl would not have wanted to be them or like them? They had their own band and played the coolest music [at the time]. They instilled this urge in me to want to be loved by some gorgeous guy. They also exerted a powerful spirit that I always dreamt of having someday. |

Scooby-doo will always have a tender place in my heart. It was probably my favorite cartoon of all time. Scooby and Shaggy were extremely funny, humble, as well as curious and always had some surprise up their sleeves. I was a curious child too and I am a still inquisitive today. Except, I have converted that into researching.

Duck Tales cartoons were loads of fun to watch. I can seriously admit that until this day, I randomly sing the theme song and I cannot figure out why. The show was adventurous and there was always some type of mystery that led to something some unbelievable outcomes. Of course, as a child, I was taken aback by just about everything. The way Duck Tales may have sculpted my life is by the way I enjoy visiting, learning and living in new places.

ThunderCats was an intriguing program. The characters had the best super hero costumes. I always wanted to have a great body like Cheetara. She was my idol. Most importantly, I wanted to be powerful like them. I watched these cartoons over and over. I was quite obsessed. What I learned from this show is how I continue to embrace positive energy in most situations even when I exert the negative out of my system. At the end of the day, I have learned to be happy despite the loss of many of my family members and many other hardships.

The Smurfs became so popular and were the most adorable characters I had seen on television. I just wanted live in their tiny communities and be close to them. They were very focused and family-oriented even though their personalities differed. In addition to that, together they overcame outside negative forces that interjected in their lives. This enlightened me about the importance of solidarity with close friends and family. It also helped me handle many tough circumstances I have no control over.

Overall, these cartoons had a wonderful effect on my outlook from an early age. Enjoying them allowed my imagination to run free, get inspired, dream of a wonderful future and realize that at the end we can be elated regardless of what life throws in our direction. Expanding my vision is one aspect in life that I owe to the creativity I witnessed. The creators of these shows were and are stupendous role models that I never met, but I truly appreciate their hard work.
