News isn’t always bad. On and off again, we get caught up in the negative aspects of our lives. This has been happening to me recently. While surfing the net, I have realized that I need to do something about that. Well, I contemplated it before going online. However, it hit me! I had to put one foot forward and move. Feeling stuck can be dreadful. Then, an article stared at me until it inspired me. Let me share something that you may already know. I am the type of person who makes moves based on inspiration, not because someone told me I should do something or for a different reason, but because that is how my soul feels at ease expressing itself and making adjustments. When I am in that state of mind, I feel like I am floating in peace and harmony. My good news may be seen as average or what-is-so-good-about-that news to you. I felt inspired enough to give you a slice of what was virtuous about this week.
A little about me: I am a junior high and high school teacher. I work at Inage Senior High School in Chiba, Japan and it has been a wonderful experience thus far. The students are great (they are workaholics), the teachers work as a team (they are also workaholics), and I am free to mold my lessons my way as long as I get the goal across clearly.
Remember that expressing yourself to others is not being weak, but advantageous to your soul. You share your achievements and feel wonderful in the process. Find a friend(s) and/or family member(s) who truly care(s) about what you have to say and let it out.
This week I felt thrilled within my career and on a personal level, not only as a teacher, but also as an organizer and a coach. For a few weeks, I worked on creating posters to recruit students who may be interested in writing for the school’s first student-written English newsletter. It was an idea that brought a smile to me for the simple fact that I cherish writing. At my office, I placed a sign-in sheet where I saw about four names. That alone motivated me. FOUR people are showing up!
First meeting day: On Wednesday, 4:30pm arrived and three girls walked into the computer room. I was ready and eager to begin talking with them. A few minutes later, to my surprise, another couple of girls walk in and then a few more. I did not know what to do with myself. I almost lost it. It was a dream becoming a reality. I had about nine girls one that ended up leaving earlier than the rest. Yet, they were as excited as I was. They felt the connection just as much as I did and they are ready to make the newsletter as successful and worthy of reading as a writer can only hope. It was the beginning of what made my week move with ease.
English department: By Friday, the English department at my new job had a wonderful farewell/welcoming dinner and that was quite a nice get together. We caught up with the former teachers and talked about their experiences. They were very hospitable and gave their best advice.
Girl’s night out: On Saturday, a couple of fabulous ladies and I had dinner and drinks. We talked about a number of fun, interesting and silly topics. It was a lovely time. We ended the night at a jazz bar and called it a night due to the beginning of the rainy season.
All in all, I am grateful for the job I have landed, the teachers and staff, the students and for the great friends that lend me their ears through my best and worst times. I could not ask for more! Life is beautiful in distinctive ways. The more I allow love to flow the better life gets. As odd as this may sound, I want to thank my ancestors for their existence. Without their power to survive, I would not be here. Finally, I appreciate everyone whom I have had contact with throughout my life. With their help, I have become as strong as I am today.
Love you!
