BEST ADVICE FOR ALLERGIES, COMMON SYMPTOMS & PREVENTION
JENNIFER | AUGUST 12, 2014
Allergies that are invading people’s bodies worldwide and at a blistering rate. In varying circumstances, hypersensitivity is connected to peanuts, dairy, shellfish, fruit and so on. It seems that as time prolongs, these immune-damaging diseases affect a wider range of people in less time than ever before. In America alone, approximately 15 million individuals have been diagnosed with some type of food allergies. Across the Atlantic Ocean, these same allergies have impacted over 17 million Europeans.

According to NHS Choices,
In reviewing the Stanford University FAQs, it has been proven that nearly 40% of individuals who had one allergy at an early age are most likely to have additional allergies.
Although, victims of these sensitivities feel there may be no cure to this issue, there is a 20% chance to outgrow allergies to shellfish, peanuts and tree nuts. A higher percentage is more promising to people allergic to soy, eggs, milk, wheat and fish. These individuals have around a 75% chance of surpassing their allergies.
There is a big question on how hypersensitivity even begins. Aside from eating nonperishable foods (which include a high number of unnatural ingredients), having a history of allergies in the family, living conditions (especially in the city where there is a great deal of pollution) and smoke can all be the source of these problems. There are more serious cases where individuals live near factory plants.
As shown on Thedoctorstv.com, some of the most ordinary allergens are all amongst us.

In poverty-stricken environments, mold and dust mites are a big factor since the buildings where most low-income individuals live in are old and shabby. No one is really taking much care of them and almost appear to be abandoned. In big cities, this is one of the worst conditions residents having low salaries must deal with. Even if families are extremely clean, the buildings are usually infested with cockroaches, mold, dust mites and so on. It triggers health quite badly and may result in causing maladies.
On The Doctors TV show, there was an episode on children and allergies escalating within the last few years. They made some excellent points on the reasons why some children are experiencing anaphylaxis. Some of them are shown on the list below.

Children with Allergies
Tips on Prevention
According to the Mayo Clinic, there are a number of ways to help prevent food allergies in spite of where consumers shop or eat.
- 1 in 20 American children have food allergies
- There has been a 50% allergy increase in over 10 years
- 1 in 8 American children have eczema and other skin allergies
- Dr. Rachael Ross stated that parents do not allow their children to get dirty and sometimes limit the types of foods they should eat to eating healthy. This does not help the children’s bodies to deal with dirt (bacteria) well enough to fight them off.
- Dr. Jim Sears also explained that those parents who fed their children more processed foods in the first couple of years of those kids’ lives were prone to experience allergies twice as much in comparison to children who did not eat as much unhealthy foods.
- If children are unexposed to milk and dairy products early on, they may be in worse conditions than they already are.
- Breast-feeding is a great way to help the children to grow healthier.

According to the Mayo Clinic, there are a number of ways to help prevent food allergies in spite of where consumers shop or eat.
- First, reading labels is now essential. Know what is going into your system and the children’s as well.
- Second, there are bracelets that are named medical alert bracelet or some type of bracelet that warns others that you have food allergies in the event you cannot explain anything to them due to some type of reaction.
- Third, have your doctor give you some epinephrine in case of an emergency.
- Fourth, eating out is fun, but clearly communicate to the server or the chef that you or your child is allergic to some food.
Testing
Although testing varies from one place to the next, one way of examining a patient’s skin is by checking the reaction on their backs and arms to find out what they are sensitive to. The Richmond Allergy video with Amy, displays one way the process is done. It is extensive and looks painful, but Amy states it is not as bad as it looks and she expands on the importance to know what our bodies can and cannot handle. One of the critical factors patients should keep in mind is to refrain from using any anti-histamines at lease 7 to 8 days prior to getting the allergy test.
On another video, Dr. Hamsa N. Subramanian conducted the same test, but a bit differently than Amy did. It was much faster and she stated the procedure was completely painless, except for the slight nudges that were shown. Dr. Subramanian also explained it step-by-step and demonstrated how she conducted the same examination, except she used slightly different tools.
Allergies can moderately change people’s lives by affecting them on a light symptoms due to certain foods or being surrounded by some trees, weeds and so on. Extreme cases take place and need immediate attention, but one of the best ways to manage these situations is to find out what you or your loved ones are allergic to. Being extremely precautions, taking the extensive allergy test and being relatively aware of what you are consuming at restaurants and anywhere else. Finally, reading the labels prior to purchasing any type of food product can be a true-life saver minus one hospital bill to worry about.
